Hosting and server log files
When you visit this website, our hosting provider automatically collects and stores information in server log files that your browser transmits: IP address, date and time of the request, requested page, browser type and version, operating system, and referrer URL.
This data is processed to deliver the website reliably, to ensure its security and stability, and to detect and defend against attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the secure and reliable operation of this website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Log files are deleted automatically after 365 days.
Our hosting provider is Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestraße 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. Hosting takes place in data centers within the EU. We have concluded a data processing agreement with Hetzner pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR.
Contact form and email contact
If you contact us via the contact form or by email, we process the data you provide (name, email address, subject, and the content of your message) to handle your inquiry and any follow-up questions.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (steps prior to entering into a contract taken at your request) insofar as your inquiry relates to our services, and otherwise our legitimate interest in responding to inquiries addressed to us (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
We retain inquiries as long as necessary to process them. Correspondence that becomes part of a business relationship is retained in accordance with statutory retention obligations (in particular § 132 BAO: 7 years).
Comments
If you leave a comment on this website, we process the data you enter in the comment form (name, email address, optionally your website) together with the content of your comment, your IP address, and your browser user agent string. The IP address and user agent are collected to support spam detection and to defend against abuse.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in enabling public discussion of our content and in protecting the comment function against abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Your email address is not published.
Approved comments and their metadata are retained as long as the commented content remains on the website, so that follow-up comments can be recognized and approved automatically. You may request the deletion of your comments at any time (see section 7).
If you opt in via the checkbox in the comment form, your name, email address, and website are stored in cookies on your device for your convenience, so you do not have to re-enter them for future comments. These cookies are set only with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) and expire after one year.
Spam protection (Akismet)
To protect our contact form and comment function from automated spam, we use the Akismet service, provided by Automattic Inc., 60 29th Street #343, San Francisco, CA 94110, USA.
When you submit the contact form or a comment, the submitted data (including your IP address, email address, the content of your message or comment, and technical metadata such as browser information) is transmitted to Automattic servers in the USA and analyzed for spam characteristics. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in protecting our website against abusive automated submissions (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Web analytics (Koko Analytics)
To understand which pages and posts on this website are visited and how often, we use the Koko Analytics plugin. Koko Analytics operates without cookies and without collecting personal data: it stores only aggregated counts (page views, visitor estimates, and referrer sources) directly in our own database on our own servers. No IP addresses are stored, no visitor profiles are created, and no data is transmitted to third parties.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in measuring the reach of our content in a privacy-preserving manner (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Cookies
This website does not use tracking, analytics, or marketing cookies. Cookies are set only in two cases: technically necessary cookies for logged-in site administrators, and the optional comment convenience cookies described in section 4, which are set exclusively with your consent via the checkbox in the comment form.
